Murder by Numbers star Agnes Bruckner headlines this sequel to the tense, 2007 horror thriller about a lonely motel that's wired for terror. When Caleb, his new fiancée Jessica, and their wisecracking friend Tanner checked into the Meadow View Inn, they thought their scariest thing about their stay would be the tacky décor. The movie starts in the 18th century to set the scene and tease at the foundation of a ghost story that drives the main characters to a haunted house on the skirts of a cemetery. The setting changes to present day (1980s). A group of college students are drawn to the house rumored to be haunted. Randolph claims to have a distant tie to the past of the house. The beast within the house set to picking them off one by one. With the aid if ancient spells and trees the beast is banished. - Written by Raevyn

The Being (1983)

Director Jackie Kong, who later made the cult favorite Blood Diner (1987), directed this terrible monster movie for exploitation pioneer Bill Osco, who stars under the pseudonym "Rexx Coltrane." The plot concerns a mutant child who has become a monster after being exposed to toxic waste in a small Idaho town. Mortimer (Osco) wants to investigate a series of disappearances, only to have his efforts stymied by the town's mayor (José Ferrer), who is worried about the potential economic impact on the local potato industry. This abysmal horror film was made in 1980 and shelved for three years despite a cast which includes Oscar winners Ferrer and Dorothy Malone, Martin Landau, and Kinky Friedman. L.A. is the backdrop for a series of brutal murders, where female victims have every drop of blood drained from their bodies. Director Hsu (who was born in Hong Kong, moved to the U.S. and graduated from UCLA's film program; she also co-scripted) flips the roles seen in your standard vampire film by making a mere mortal (Wings Hauser) responsible for the murders and our hero (George Chakiris) a sullen and understated vampire who flies in from London to team up with a female private investigator (Pamela Ludwig) to try to catch the killer... When Chad (William Lee Scott) and Scarlet (Jamie Allan Allman) packed up their car and drove out of the city, they thought they were leaving the worst behind. After a near-fatal car crash leaves them deeply rattled, Scarlet notices a well-kept farmhouse far off in the distance. When the couple arrives, kindly owner Samael (Webber) and his wife invite them to stay until morning, when they can drive them into town and get their car looked at. This film is about a couple (Emily and Nate) who go from living in the city to moving in to a house in the country after Emily has a miscarriage. The house they move in to used to be in Nate's family in the mid 1800's. After they move in Emily starts seeing visions of people who used to live there, but she doesn't know what it all means. Then she becomes pregnant again, but the strange thing is that she was told she could never become pregnant again. How is it possible? Hell Of The Living Dead (1980)

In this woeful "zombie" film, an accident occurs in a scientific lab in Papua-New Guinea sending out a dangerous chemical in a cloud of green smoke and turning the technicians and locals into ghouls ravenous for human flesh. An Italian news reporter (Margit Evelyn Newton) and her crew land on the island in search of the story, quickly followed by a search-and-destroy mission of soldiers. From that point onward, highly unreal dialogue ("something eating you?") would classify the movie as a cult-camp favorite. When the mismatched or unmatched sequences in the film are combined with ugly color and moronic dialogue, it is difficult to tell whether the living-dead or brain-dead dominate the film. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
